Nowytski receives awards for three films

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Film producer-director Slavko Nowytski was honored at the CINE luncheon November 29 in Washington, D.C., where he was awarded three Golden Eagle Awards for his films, "Last of the Jacks," "Faces of the Forest" and "Kung-Fu Master: Gin Foon Mark."

Mr. Nowytski received a Golden Eagle last year for his film "Pysanka: The Ukrainian Easter Egg." That film was again honored on November 30 when he received an award from the second secretary of the Iranian embassy as a result of "Pysanka's" participation in the Tehran International Film Festival.

"Last of the Jacks" and "Faces of the Forest" are historical documentaries about the lumberjack and forester eras of northern Minnesota. Mr. Nowytski produced both films for the Minnesota Historical Society. "Kung-Fu Master: Gin Foon Mark" is a biographical documentary about the world master of the southern praying mantis style of kung-fu, the ancient Chinese way of life that encompasses the marital arts.

"Pysanka: The Ukrainian Easter Egg" has been awarded a number of first prizes, including the Francis Scott Key Award for Best Arts Documentary from the Baltimore International Film Festival and the Gold Hugo for Best Educational Film from the Chicago International Film Festival.

The film is extremely popular in the United States and has been televised on the national television networks of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Holland, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Brazil, all in the languages of the host countries.

Recently Filmart Productions, the company headed by Mr. Nowytski, signed an agreement whereby the French Television Network, FR3, becomes the latest European country to acquire national television rights to this film.
