ODFFU meets at triennial convention, elects board headed by Futala


NEW YORK - The Organization for the Defense of Four Freedoms for Ukraine held its triennial convention here at the Ukrainian National Home on November 29-30 and elected Lev Futala president. The convention was held concurrently with that of the Women's Association for the Defense of Four Freedoms for Ukraine.

Also elected to the new executive board of the organization were: Askold Lozynskyj, Ulana Celewych, Wolodymyr Masur, Prof. Semen Wozhakiwsky, vice-presidents; Evhen Hanowsky, general secretary; L. Kokodynsky, financial chairman; Y. Zahorodny, M. Kowalchyn, B. Moroz, M. Hryckowian, Ihor Dlaboha, Evhen Ivashkiv, Mykola Semanyshyn, Wolodymyr Lewenetz, Dr. M. Kushir, V. Kostyk, A. Sokolyk, M. Sydor and Dr. M. Byeh, members.

Iwan Wynnyk, M. Zatsukhny, M. Kavka, L. Kusiaka and V. Lisovych were elected members of the auditing committee; N. Basniak and T. Melnyk were chosen alternate members.

The newly elected arbitration board includes: Y. Rak, chairman; Dr. M. Klymyshyn, Dr. Y. Bernadyn, Dr. O. Sokolyshyn and Ivan Bazarko, members; P. Shahay and H. Cebriy, alternate members.

Ignatius Billinsky, who headed the ODFFU for several terms, was elected honorary president of the organization.

The 112 delegates who attended the convention heard reports of outgoing officers and discussed various topics which affect not only the ODFFU, but the entire Ukrainian community as well.

The convention was conducted by a presidium consisting of Mr. Masur, chairman; Messrs. Rak and Kusiaka, vice chairmen; O. Rozhka and Orest Szczudluk, secretaries.

At the closing session of the convention, Jaroslaw Stetzko, head of the Organization of the Ukrainian Nationalists and the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations, addressed delegates of the ODFFU and the women's association.

The Saturday evening convention banquet was attended by 372 delegates and guests. The program featured remarks by Mr. Stetzko, and performances by the Zhaivoronky girls' choir of the New York SUM-A branch, bass-baritone Andriy Dobriansky, the Cheremshyna trio and bandurist Marko Farion. Masters of ceremonies were Mr. Dlaboha and Olena Hentish.
