St. Basil's Ukrainian Club celebrates 11th year

The Ukrainian Club at St. Basil's Prep School this year celebrates its 11th year. Under the direction and instruction of Prof. Roman Romanyshyn, the club's main goal is to instill in each and every Ukrainian a love for his culture, tradition and language. The Ukrainian Club sponsors such activities as woodcarving (under the watchful eye of Prof. Romanyshyn); Ukrainian folk dancing (under the direction of Mr. Uzdeichyk); a Ukrainian Day, which will be held on Sunday, March 1; and a newspaper, "Visti." One of the main attractions of Ukrainian Day is the Ukrainian Speech Contest; this year's theme will be "Why We Need Priests." The Ukrainian Club (pictured above) has 30 members; Peter Semczuk is the president, Andrew Hanuszczyk, vice-president, Zenon Werbowsky, secretary, and Ihor Midzak, treasurer.
