- ELLENVILLE, N.Y.: SUSTA's Outlook for 1983 Conference will take place
during these two days. This is an opportunity for Ukrainian students to
get together and discuss plans for the New Year. The conference will feature
an open forum and workshops. It will be held in conjunction with the weeklong

Friday, December 31
- SOYUZIVKA: A New Year's Eve Dance featuring the Alex and Dorko Band
will be held at the Ukrainian National Association estate. For more information

- NEW YORK: The Ukrainian Institute of America will hold a special New
Year's Eve program tonight, beginning at 9 p.m. The black-tie affair will
include cocktails, dinner, refreshments and live music provided by the
Vodohray band of Chicago. The celebration will continue through 2 a.m.
Cost is $45 per person, $20 for students. Please call the institute for

- SOMERVILLE, N.J.: The Chervona Kalyna Band will ring in the New Year
at the Holiday Inn of Somerville (U.S. Route 22 East). The celebration
begins at 9 p.m. with a prime-rib dinner. Admission is $70 per couple.

- EAST HANOVER, N.J.: The New Jersey branch of the Ukrainian Engineers'
Society of America and the Chornomortsi Plast Unit are sponsoring a New
Year's Eve banquet and ball at the Ramada Inn, 130 Route 10. The evening
includes a cocktail hour at 8 p.m., banquet at 9 p.m., and ball at 10 p.m.
Music will be provided by the B. Hirniak Orchestra.
Admission prices are: $75 per couple for banquet and ball,
$40 per person. Cocktails are not included in these prices. Tickets, including
open bar from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., are $55 per person. For reservations and

- PHILADELPHIA: The Tryzub Sports Club and the League of Ukrainian Catholics
in Frankford are sponsoring a New Year's Eve Dance in the St. Josaphat
School Auditorium. Dancing music will be provided by the Melody Night band

Proceeds from the dance will go toward the construction
of the Sports Club in Horsham, Pa.

- NEW YORK: To start off the New Year, the young professionals of the
Ukrainian Institute of America will present an informal get-together. The
evening, geared toward making new friends and business contacts will feature
live music by a new and exciting band from Chicago, Vodohray. The evening
begins at 8 p.m., lasts until 1 a.m., and includes snacks and refreshments.

Sunday, January 9
- PHOENIX, Ariz.: The Sisterhood of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian
Catholic Church here is holding a traditional Ukrainian Christmas Dinner
and the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the ordination of their
pastor, the Very Rev. Andrew Mykyta. The afternoon event will be held after
high liturgy at the church hall, 4318 W. Clarendon.
Saturday, January 15
- FORKED RIVER, N.J.: The Ukrainian American Club of Ocean County is
sponsoring its second annual Ukrainian New Year's Eve dinner-dance at the
Oyster Bay Restaurant on Route 9. Hors d'oeuvres will be served from 7
to 8 p.m., followed by a dinner (choice of prime rib of beef or flounder
stuffed with crabmeat). Committee advises BYOB.
In addition to the meal, Ukrainian desserts will be served
later in the evening. The well-known Ukrainian group "The Kolomeykas"
will provide entertainment from 8 p.m. throughout the evening. Tickets

- WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.: The Ukrainian American Club of the Palm Beaches
will hold its second annual "Malanka" dance tonight at St. Mary's
Church hall, Florida Mango Road. The $10 admission includes dinner, live
music from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. and special entertainment by local artists.
- PITTSBURGH: The Western Pennsylvania region of the Ukrainian Orthodox
League will sponsor its 25th annual "Malanka" at the Greentree
Holiday Inn. Music for dancing will be provided by the Corsairs recording
artists.
Highlighting the event will be the selection of Miss UOL
of Western Pennsylvania. Each chapter of the region is permitted one candidate
who must be single and between the ages of 16 and 25. The winner will be
crowned by Susan Woznak, last year's winner.
Elizabeth Mitchell is serving as committee chairperson.
The Rev. Andrew Beck is the advisor to the "Malanka" committee.
The planning and organization of the "Malanka" is being handled
by the Ss. Peter and Paul Senior UOL Chapter of Carnegie, Pa.
Saturday, January 15
- COLUMBIA, Md.: The Ukrainian Association of the Washington Metropolitan
Area will hold its annual "Malanka" ball and banquet with the
presentation of debutantes at the Rouse Building Ballroom in Columbia,
Md., between Baltimore and Washington on Route 29. This event is also a
fund-raiser for the cultural and charitable projects of the Ukrainian association.
ONGOING
- CHICAGO: The Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art will have a Christmas
Bazaar of drawings, paintings and sculpture by Ukrainian artists. All the
works, moderately priced, will be on sale. The bazaar will be open from
December 11 through January 9.
- NEW YORK: The Mayana Gallery, 21 E. Seventh St., is holding a Christmas
exhibit of Slava Gerulak works. The exhibit runs from December 17 through
January 15. Gallery hours are from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday;
closed Monday's.
