Language society is officially registered

MUNICH - On November 24, Radianska Osvita reported that the Shevchenko Ukrainian Language Society has finally been officially registered.

The announcement was made by Dmytro Pavlychko, who heads the society, and the writer Anatoliy Pohribny, during a republican scientific practical conference on "Ways to Improve the Effectiveness of Learning Ukrainian Language and Literature in Schools and Professional-Technical Schools" held in Cherkassy on November 14-17.

According to Messrs. Pavlychko and Pohribny, it is hoped that this will now put an end to "the furious opposition" of some local officials in Ukraine to efforts on the part of Ukrainian language enthusiasts to establish primary organizations of the society.
