Shevchenko Society to mark 125th anniversary

NEW YORK - The Shevchenko Scientific Society - the oldest Ukrainian association of scholars - is celebrating its 125th anniversary in 1998. Founded in 1873 in Lviv, it is currently active in Europe, North America and Australia.

The American Shevchenko Scientific Society is planning to mark this important anniversary in New York City during the weekend of October 3-4. The celebration will consist of a scholarly conference, a musical and artistic program, and a banquet. Further details about the program will be provided at a later date.
