Kuchma and Putin meet before CIS summit

MOSCOW - Russia's acting President Vladimir Putin (right) shakes hands with President Leonid Kuchma of Ukraine, prior to their meeting in Moscow on January 24. Mr. Kuchma arrived in Moscow to take part in the summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States, where he voiced Ukraine's position that the CIS should concentrate on economic matters and create a free-trade zone.
