- MORRISTOWN, N.J.: The Moscow Soloists, led by Lviv-born viola virtuoso
Yuri Bashmet, will appear at the Community Theatre in Morristown at 8 p.m.,
in a program of Tchaikovsky's "Andante Cantabile" and "Serenade
in C Major for Strings" and Shostakovich's "Sinfonia for Viola

- PHILADELPHIA: The Ukrainian National Women's League of America Philadelphia
Regional Council will commemorate the UNWLA's 75th anniversary. The festivities
include an exhibit, "Our Talents" (Saturday); a panel discussion,
"Woman in a Kaleidoscope" (Sunday, 1 p.m.); and a jubilee banquet
(Sunday, 3 p.m.). The events will take place at the Ukrainian Educational
and Cultural Center, 700 Cedar Road, Jenkintown, Pa. Price: $40 per person

- NEW YORK: The Ukrainian Institute of America, 2 E. 79th St., is holding
an art exhibit of the works of Volodymyr Kovalchuk of Toronto, as well
as a reading by New York Group writer Yuri Tarnawsky, who will read from
his new book of poetry titled, "They Don't Exist." An opening
reception for the art exhibit will be held on Tuesday, March 28, at 6-9
p.m. The exhibit will be on view through April 2. Gallery hours: noon-6

- NEW YORK: The Ukrainian Institute of America presents the a concert
of Ukrainian folk music featuring the renowned folk music ensemble Cheres.
For the best mountain music from Eastern Europe available live today in
New York City, experience the rousing centuries-old folk hits played by
this acclaimed band. Cheres' musical arsenal includes a wide assortment
of handmade instruments made by artisans in the Carpathians. The performance

of Alberta is holding a lecture by Dr. Bohdan Klid, CIUS, on the topic
"Claiming Sovereignty Over the Past: 19th Century Ukrainian-Russian
Debates over Kyivan Rus'." The lecture will be held in the CIUS Library,
352 Athabasca Hall, at 3:30 p.m.

18 is planning an Easter Yarmarok (bazaar) to be held at St. Nicholas Ukrainian
Catholic Church Hall, 106 President St. Among the featured artists will
be Christina Holowchak Debarry, Laryssa Martyniuk, Bohdan Borzemsky and
Slava Gerulak, as well as new artists from Ukraine. As always, pysanky
and traditional Ukrainian crafts will be available, along with Ukrainian

- WESTMINSTER, Md.: Carroll Community College invites the public to a
retrospective exhibit of the works of Wasyl Palijczuk, featuring paintings,
sculpture, drawings and mixed media. The artist, a resident of Baltimore,
is professor of art at Western Maryland College and recipient of the first
Western Maryland College Creativity Award. The exhibit, which opens March
19 at 2-4 p.m., will run through April 26. The college is located on Routes

- NEW YORK: The New York chapter of the Ukrainian National Women's League
of America is announcing that it will host a festive program and banquet
on June 3-4 at the Ukrainian National Home at 140 Second Ave. In conjunction
with the festivities, an exhibit of photographs (representing the current
works of the different divisions of the New York chapter of the UNWLA)
and children's literature will be held on June 3 at the Ukrainian National
Home. Further details will be available at a later date.

Effective September 1, there is a $10 charge per submission for listings
in Preview of Events. The listing plus payment must be received no later
than one week before the desired date of publication. There is also the
option of prepayment for a series of listings.
