Kyiv plans to increase number of hotels

KYIV - Due to an increase in tourist activity in Kyiv, officials plan to increase the number of hotels from 80 to 120, stated the vice-chairman of the Tourism and Hotel Department of the Kyiv State Administration, Mykola Hrytsyk. Construction of three or four five-star hotels, about 20 four-star hotels and several three-star hotels is planned by 2010. Last year 12,000 tourists from Germany, 13,000 Americans and 14,000 Russians visited Kyiv, while the total number of foreign tourists was 108,000. (Eastern Economist)


Boryspil turned around 1.3 M passengers

KYIV - Boryspil International Airport served 1.3 million clients in 1999, said the acting general manager of the airport, Viktor Machutskyi. Some 41 percent of passengers flew on foreign airlines. The revenues of the airport were $30 million (U.S.), while profits totaled 69 million hrv. (Eastern Economist)


Odesa city airport rebuilding is planned

ODESA - The Odesa City Administration and Vienna Airport Consulting have announced a project for reconstruction of the Odesa airport in 2001-2003, said Odesa Mayor Ruslan Bodelan. He added that the total cost of the project is around $90 million (U.S.). The city airport will become a modern European facility as the result of the reconstruction, said Mr. Bodelan.
