Kerhonkson parish to mark double anniversary

by Osyp Moroz

KERHONKSON, N.Y. - Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Parish will celebrate its 35th anniversary - as well as the 25th anniversary of the construction of its church - on Sunday, September 24.

The unique wooden church - designed by renowned architect Radoslav Zuk and featuring an iconostasis by noted artist Jacques Hnizdovsky - serves a small parish. However it has also served countless faithful outside the congregation for wedding ceremonies and baptisms.

All are welcome to attend the anniversary celebrations. Participants will include Bishop Lubomyr Husar of Kyiv, the parish's founding pastor; and Bishop Basil Losten of the Eparchy of Stamford, Conn. The two hierarchs will begin the jubilee event by celebrating a liturgy at 10 a.m.

A banquet with a special entertainment program will take place later in the day at the Soyuzivka resort of the Ukrainian National Association, located just up the road from the church. Tickets are $50 for adults; $15 for children up to age 16; and free for children under age 4.

Holy Trinity Parish also plans to publish a jubilee book; advertisers are now being solicited. To place an advertisement or message of congratulations, contact: Holy Trinity UCC Jubilee, P.O. Box 712, Kerhonkson, NY 12446. For further information about the parish's anniversary plans call (800) 673-5150; or fax (914) 626-5831.
