Ukrainian Congress Committee of America slates quadrennial conclave for October

NEW YORK - The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America will be holding its XVIII Congress of Ukrainians in America at the Chicago O'Hare Marriot on October 13-15.

In addition to addressing internal matters, congress delegates and guests will discuss issues important to the community and Ukraine during roundtable discussions and have an opportunity to meet other members of the Ukrainian American community at a Friday evening reception and during Saturday evening's formal banquet.

Inasmuch as the UCCA's convention is fast approaching, members, organizations and branches should address the matter of choosing delegates. In accordance with the UCCA By-Laws, delegates to the convention are to be designated ex officio or chosen as follows:

• Members of the National Council (which includes National Executive members), as well as the Auditing Committee and Mediation Board are delegates ex officio.
  
  
• Representatives of UCCA branches and local organizations with 20 to 100 members are entitled to one delegate and one additional delegate if the branch/organization numbers more than 100 physical/organizational members.
  
  
• Delegates from national organizations/UCCA members may delegate one representative from each 5,000 members, two for up to 10,000 members, three for up to 30,000 members and a fourth delegate if its membership roll exceeds 30,000.
  
  
• Each UCCA branch may elect additional delegates from its Ukrainian National Fund (UNF) contributors, provided the branch lists at least 25 UNF contributors, as follows: 25-100 contributors, one delegate; each additional 100 or part thereof is entitled to one additional delegate. Election of UNF contributors' delegates must be held no later than 60 days prior to the convention.

Those individuals and/or organizations that did not receive delegate forms or need additional forms are asked to call the UCCA National Office at (212) 228-6840 to obtain copies. Further details of the congress will be forthcoming.
