Famed Veriovka dance troupe to perform in Morristown

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The Veriovka Ukrainian National Dance Company, billed as one of the best traditional performing ensembles in the world, will appear at the Community Theater on Wednesday, October 25, at 8 p.m.

Employing both traditional songs and dances, as well as works by contemporary Ukrainian composers and choreographers, the company's reputation continues to bring new awareness to the musical and dance treasures of Ukraine.

On its first American tour since 1996, the company, under the direction of Anatoly Avdievsky, has received accolades for the artistic quality of its fine dancers, singers and instrumentalists and for the spectacular quality of its performances with reviews in such leading papers as the San Francisco Chronicle, The New York Times and the Cleveland Plain Dealer, among others.

To date, the company of over 80 artists, has performed in dozens of countries, including Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Mexico, Canada, Spain, Venezuela, Brazil, Cuba and Costa Rica.

The company's repertoire includes historical ballads, Kozak songs and dances, scenic compositions and Chumak dances.
