Former UNA Treasurer Blahitka dies

PARSIPPANY, N.J. - The Ukrainian National Association's Home Office learned on November 29 that former UNA Treasurer Alexander Blahitka had died the previous day in a local hospital following a serious illness. He was 52.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. Blahitka was employed as an accountant with the Financial Department at the UNA Home Office.

He was elected treasurer of the UNA at the organization's 1990 convention and was re-elected in 1994. He left his position in 1998 due to illness.

The funeral liturgy was scheduled for Saturday, December 1, at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Whippany, N.J., with burial to follow at North Arlington Cemetery.
