U.S. Embassy takes precautions against anthrax

U.S. Embassy

KYIV - As a precautionary measure, a team of U.S. Embassy employees trained in biological and chemical emergency response procedures was to decontaminate the Embassy's mailroom on November 7, for possible anthrax contamination.

The procedure involves cleaning all surface areas and objects in the mailroom with a chlorine solution. This procedure does not pose a risk of anthrax contamination to anyone outside of the mailroom area, in the Embassy itself, or to individuals, residences and other buildings located outside the U.S. Embassy property.

The Embassy team is carrying out the procedures on instructions issued by the Department of State to all diplomatic and consular posts worldwide.
