- NEW YORK: The Ukrainian Art and Literary Club and Mayana Gallery invite
the public to the program "Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky," featuring
a photo exhibit and evening commemorating the 57th anniversary of the metropolitan's
death. The exhibit runs through November 18. The Rev. Marian Datsyshyn,
St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church, will speak on the metropolitan's
life, and Lidia Krushelnytska will recite Bohdan Lepky's poem "In
St. George's Cathedral." The videofilm "How to Build our Native
Home," will also be shown. Donation: $7. Gallery hours: Friday, 6-8

- NEW YORK: The New York Bandura Ensemble presents the concert "Victor
Mishalow: The Ancient Music of the Kobzari, the Suppressed Music of the
1920s and 1930s; Contemporary Bandura Compositions." The concert is
being held as part of this year's Bandura Downtown series. Donation: $10.

- EAST HANOVER, N.J.: The Ukainian American Professionals and Businessper-sons
Association invites the public to attend an evening with Maria Savchyn
Pyskir, a.k.a. Marichka, the author of "Thousands of Roads,"
a memoir of her life in the Ukrainian underground as a member of the Organization
of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) from 1939 and then an active member of
the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) until her capture by the KGB in 1953.
The evening will take pace at the Ramada Hotel, 130 Route 10 westbound.
Admission: members, $8; non-members, $10; students, free of charge.

- BUFFALO, NY: The Ukrainian National Women's League of America, Branch
97, will present a concert by the award-winning Vesnivka women's choir
of Toronto. The concert will take place at 3 p.m in the hall of St. John
the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3275 Elmwood Ave., Kenmore, N.Y.

- CAMBRIDGE, Mass.: The Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute will present
a lecture by Aleksandra Hnatiuk, associate professor, Research Center on
the Classical Tradition, Warsaw University, and Shklar Fellow of the Ukrainian
Research Institute. The lecture, titled "Westernizers or Nativists?
Problems of Cultural Identity in Ukrainian Literature of the 1990s,"
will be held in the institute seminar room, 1583 Massachusetts Ave., at

- PITTSBURGH: The Ukrainian Technological Society invites the public
to its 32nd annual dinner/dance. Guest of honor at the event will be Judge
Bohdan A. Futey, who will be presented with the society's 2001 Ukrainian
of the Year Award. The event will be held at the University Club in the

- BOSTON: An art exhibit and sale of the works of Jacques Hnizdovsky

of America. An opening reception and preview sale will be held Saturday,

Catholic Church, 146 Forest Hills St. The sale of art work continues the

its members and friends to the traditional Christmas celebration of Yalynka,

at 7 p.m. The evening will feature a short festive program, followed by
