a lecture by Volodymyr Kulyk, senior research fellow, Institute of Political
and Ethnic Studies, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and Shklar
Fellow of the Ukrainian Research Institute. The lecture, titled "Constructing
Common Sense: Ethnic and Linguistic Problems in Ukrainian Public Discourse,"

- NEW YORK: The Ukrainian Art and Literary Club and the Ukrainian Music
Institute of America present "Musical Arts of Silverland," an
evening featuring musicologist Oksana Lykhovyd (UMIA), who will speak on
the music of Zakarpattia. Excerpts of the film "Enchanted Melodies
of Zakarpattia," showcasing regional musicians who performed in the
Ukraina Palace during this year's 10th anniversary celebration of Ukraine's
independence in Kyiv, will also be shown at 7 p.m. Donation: $7. In the
gallery, the exhibit "Landscapes of Zakarpattia," a photo-description
of Carpathian massifs by Stepan Slutzky, will be on view November 25-December

of Toronto will celebrate the publication of the Index to the five-volume
"Encyclopedia of Ukraine" and the launch of the forthcoming "Internet

in Memory of Volodymyr Czyzyk presents a benefit concert featuring Dmitri

78, invites the public to a staging of the award-winning operetta-fable
"The Brave Rooster" by Lviv composer Bohdan Yanivsky, performed
