A new song book of favorites

"Pisni Slavka" by Jaroslav Palylyk. 2001, 30 pp., $12, soft cover.

Jaroslav Palylyk's most recent publication, "Pisni Slavka" (Jaroslav's songs), is a collection of arranged Ukrainian folk songs and the author's original work. The self-published 30-page book contains the musical notation and lyrics to almost 20 songs and was published with the help of Alex Kuzyszyn for the purpose, according to Mr. Palylyk, of passing on to future generations of the Ukrainian diaspora his love of music.

The proceeds of the book will go towards the summer camps of both the Plast Ukrainian Scouting Organization and the Ukrainian American Youth Association (SUM). In his book Mr. Palylyk notes that he wanted to give what he could back to the camps that first gave him an opportunity to learn about Ukrainian culture, friendship and appreciation of music.
