- PARMA, Ohio: St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral will sponsor
its 14th annual Christmas radio broadcast for sick and shut-in parishioners.
The entire Christmas divine liturgy will be broadcast live at 9-11 a.m.
on Radio Station WERE 1300 AM. The Christmas Eve Vigil will be served on
Sunday, January 6, at 7 p.m. The Senior Chapter of the Ukrainian Orthodox
League will sponsor its annual Sviata Vechera at 5:30 p.m. on Christmas
Eve.

- NEW YORK: The Ukrainian Art and Literary Club and Mayana Gallery invite
the public to "The Embroidered Icons of Father Dmytro Blazejovskyj,"
a two-day exhibit presenting his recent creations. In the opening program
which begins at 7 p.m., the Rev. Ihor Kovalchuk, director of the Museum
of Embroidered Icons of Father Dmytro Blazejovskyj (established May 6,
1999 in Lviv), will speak on Dr. Blazejovskyj's art. Donation: $7. Born
in the Lemko region (1910), Dr. Blazejovskyj has served communities in
Connecticut, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Texas, organized parishes in Nebraska
and Colorado, and currently resides in Rome doing scholarly research. The
exhibit will be open on Saturday, January 12, at 1-5 p.m. at the Mayana
Gallery, 136 Second Ave., fourth floor. For more information call (212)

- HARTFORD, Conn.: A Ukrainian New Year's Eve dance - Malanka - will
be held at the Ukrainian National Home, 961 Wethersfield Ave., at 9 p.m.-2
a.m. Dance to the tunes of the Vodohray Orchestra. Donation: adults, $20;
students, $15. For tickets and table reservations call the Ukrainian Gift
Shop-Cooperative (SUM), (860) 296-6955, on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 6-8
p.m., or Saturday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The malanka is sponsored by the Hartford
branches of the Organization for the Defense of Four Freedoms for Ukraine
(ODFFU), the ODFFU Women's Association, and the Ukrainian American Youth
Association (SUM).
- PHILADELPHIA: The Ukrainian American Youth Association SUM, Philadelphia
Branch, invites the Ukrainian American community to attend its Malanka
- a traditional Ukrainian New Year welcoming dance, with music by the Lviviany.
The malanka will be held at the Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center,
700 Cedar Road, starting at 9 p.m. Admission: $20; $15, students. There
will be plenty of delicious food, and drinks will be available; champagne
will be served at midnight. Tables may be reserved by calling John Yaworsky,

- BOSTON: "Malanka 2002," with music by Zolota Bulava, is being
hosted by the Boston Ukrainian community, including Plast, the Ukrainian
American Heritage Foundation, and Ukrainian American Veterans. Tickets
purchased before January 7, 2002: adults, $30; youths, $20. Tickets at
the door: adults, $40; youths, $25. Buffet is included in ticket price.
The Malanka will be held at Cedars of Lebanon, 61 Rockwood St., Jamaica

- TUCSON, Ariz.: Pianist Juliana Osinchuk will appear with the Tucson
Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of George Hanson, in the concert
program "Mainly Mozart." The performance on Saturday evening,
January 19, will be at Catalina Foothills High School, 4300 E. Sunrise
Drive at 8 p.m. There will also be a Sunday matinee on January 20 at the
Pima Community College Proscenium Theater, 2202 W. Anklam Road, at 2 p.m.
Additionally, Dr. Oshinchuk will be performing in Green Valley on Thursday,
January 17; at the Canyon del Oro High School Auditorium on Friday, January
18; and in Ajo at Ajo High School on Saturday, January 26. Tickets, at

- CHICAGO: The Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art presents the second
concert of its 2001-2002 classical music series, featuring cellist Jeffrey
Solow and pianist Marianna Humetska. The program will feature works by
Beethoven, Sowerby and Kosenko. The concert will take place at the institute,
2320 W. Chicago Ave., at 2 p.m.
