USUF announces students selected for Youth Leadership Program in D.C.

WASHINGTON - The U.S.-Ukraine Foundation (USUF) is preparing for its first-ever Youth Leadership Program to be held in Washington on August 3-9.

The Youth Leadership Program is an initiative to encourage the next generation to participate in local, national and global affairs that shape U.S.-Ukraine relations. Through person-to-person interaction with Washington professionals, participating students will understand the need for political activism while simultaneously learning the skills to successfully use public policy and the political process to shape U.S.-Ukraine relations.

The foundation announced the 12 students who were selected to participate in the program: Nazar Balaban of West Seneca, N.Y., attending Canisius College; Markian Dobczansky of Silver Spring, MD, attending the University of Pennsylvania; Markian Hadzewycz of Morristown, N.J., attending Drew University; Kristen King of Toledo, Ohio, attending the University of Toledo; Natalia Diana Kujan of St. Clair Shores, Mich., attending the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor; David J. Odomirok of Thiells, N.Y., attending New York University; Vadym Ostrovsky of Danville, Va., attending Averett University; Maryana Pavlyshyn of St. Petersburg, Fla., attending St. Petersburg College; Bohdan Pechenyak of Springfield, Pa., attending Yale University; Natalia Siouta of Jersey City, N.J., attending New Jersey City University; Larissa Szczupak of Old Field, N.Y., attending Georgetown University; Stephan Nestor Vitvitsky of Sudbury, Mass., attending Tufts University; and Damian M. Zajac of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., attending New York University.

The Rochester (N.Y.) Ukrainian Federal Credit Union became the first organization to provide financial support to the USUF for the Youth Leadership Program. The foundation is encouraging other individuals and organizations to support this important program.

The U.S.-Ukraine Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 1991 to facilitate democratic development, encourage free market reform and enhance human rights in Ukraine.
