Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe

KYIV - A two-day seminar on "Public Awareness on Freedom of the Media" ended on November 26 in the southern Ukrainian town of Mykolaiv.

The event was part of a series of seminars held throughout Ukraine on the difficulties experienced by media when expressing criticism of official positions. The aim was also to train journalists and government officials in order to improve their understanding of each other's work and to examine legal issues that may arise.

The seminar was organized by the OSCE project coordinator in Ukraine, in close cooperation with the Parliamentary Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Policy, the Supreme Court and the Association of Journalists Khartia 4.

This project was entirely funded by the United Kingdom and supported by the office of the OSCE representative on freedom of the media.
