Father Peter Galadza tapped to serve on national committee on adult catechesis


OTTAWA - Father Peter Galadza was recently appointed to the National Advisory Committee on Adult Catechesis by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB). Made up of 12 specialists from throughout Canada, the committee advises the CCCB in areas of adult faith formation. Among its immediate goals is the organization of a national conference on adult catechesis, scheduled for April 2004.

This is Father Galadza's second CCCB appointment. He also serves on the North American Orthodox-Roman Catholic Theological Consultation, a position he has held since 1998. The consultation is an ecumenical dialogue group that meets twice annually under the auspices of the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of America (on the Orthodox side) and the USCCB and CCCB (on the Catholic side). Among its tasks is to produce statements of agreement regarding theological issues that have historically divided the Churches.

Currently Father Galadza is Kule Family Professor of Liturgy at the Sheptytsky Institute of Eastern Christian Studies, which is part of the Faculty of Theology at St. Paul University in Ottawa. During the 1999-2000 academic year he was dean of the Lviv Theological Academy in Ukraine.
