NEW YORK - A new life insurance program was announced at a ceremony attended by Ukrainian National Association President Stefan Kaczaraj, National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy president Dr. Viacheslav Briukhovetsky and Kyiv Mohyla Foundation president Ihor Wyslotsky. At a gathering of the Kyiv Mohyla Academy's major supporters and community leaders that took place at the Ukrainian Institute of America on November 5, the executives of the three organizations inaugurated a program that provides the opportunity to purchase a life insurance policy, name the Kyiv Mohyla Foundation as the beneficiary for the benefit of the National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy, and deduct the full amount of premium payment from income taxes. This legacy for Ukraine's oldest university is an investment in Ukraine that will pay significant dividends through educational programs at Ukraine's top university.

Founded in 1615, the National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy (NUKMA) is the most influential institution of higher learning in Ukraine. It is Ukraine's center of intellectual thought and democratic traditions and governance in the midst of Ukraine's political, economic and social transformation. Its mandate is to educate the next generation of leaders of Ukraine.

As it is the support of individuals, corporations and foundations that will play a decisive role in determining and supporting the education and training of a new generation of young Ukrainians, the Kyiv Mohyla Foundation was founded and registered as a non-profit organization in the United States.

The Ukrainian National Association, which was founded in 1894, is the largest Ukrainian fraternal organization, with over 50,000 members and assets of $75 million. From its inception, its mission has been to bring together and develop the resources of the Ukrainian community.

By becoming a member of the UNA and supporting the joint insurance program of the Ukrainian National Association and the Kyiv Mohyla Foundation for the benefit of the National University of the Kyiv Mohyla Academy, members can help both the UNA and the NUKMA. The program provides an added incentive for members as they can deduct their entire premium payment from income taxes.

It is easy to participate in this program: interested persons sign up, name the Kyiv Mohyla Foundation as beneficiary, and deduct your premium payments from your taxes. Premiums vary according to age and health status. The payments are reasonable and affordable. All participants benefit from this program, and UNA members are able to leave a legacy for the Kyiv Mohyla Academy.
