Members of Congress on visit to Ukraine


KYIV - U.S. Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will lead a bipartisan congressional delegation on a visit to Ukraine on Thursday, March 24, the U.S. Embassy announced on the day of the visit.

Sen. Reid is the senior Democratic member of the Senate. Other members of the delegation are Sens. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.), Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Robert Bennett (R-Utah), Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) and Ken Salazar (D-Colo,).

The delegation planned to meet with senior Ukrainian officials, including President Viktor Yushchenko, to discuss ways to strengthen U.S.-Ukraine relations and to continue to support democracy in Ukraine. The delegation will also meet with Ukrainian civil society leaders.

Ukraine is the delegation's final stop in a trip that included visits to Israel, Iraq and Georgia.
