84th annual Ukrainian Seminary Day to be held July 29 in Pennsylvania

MINERSVILLE, Pa. – The 84th annual Ukrainian Seminary Day will be held Sunday, July 29, at St. Nicholas Church Picnic Grounds in Primrose (just outside Minersville), Pa. This annual event is sponsored by the 12 parishes and faithful of the South Anthracite Deanery under the leadership of their respective pastors.

Bishop Andriy Rabiy, apostolic administrator of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia, will celebrate the divine liturgy at 11 a.m. with clergy of the South Anthracite Deanery.

Entertainment includes the Kazka Ukrainian Folk Ensemble, SpivZhyttya (Living in Song) and John Stevens’ Doubleshot Polka Band. Ukrainian arts and crafts, including embroidery and pysanky demonstrations, will be featured.

Pyrohy, holubtsi, kovbasa, halushky, home-made soups, home-made cakes and pastries, together with traditional American fare and beverages will also be available. Admission and parking are free. Buses are welcome.

St. Nicholas Picnic Grove and Hall are located on Route 901, one mile north of Minersville in the village of Primrose, Schuylkill County, Pa. (GPS locator: 855 Sunbury Road, Pottsville, PA 17901).

From 1985 through 2017, Ukrainian Seminary Day has raised almost $900,000 for the financial support of St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Seminary, adjacent to the campus of The Catholic University of America in Washington.
