We welcome Secretary Michael R. Pompeo and this afternoon’s Crimea Declaration reaffirming Crimea as an integral part of Ukraine. This clearly underscores that the U.S. and the international community fully support Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and that Russian aggression will not be tolerated. Russia’s illegal annexation violates all standard international norms and agreements, including the Budapest Memorandum and the Helsinki Accords. The secretary’s statement underscores the president’s continued support of Ukraine and his willingness to take a firm stand against Russian aggression.
