Descendants of UPA veterans to continue their work

Participants of the 26th Convention of the Society of Veterans of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA).

JENKINTOWN, Pa. – On April 25, during its 26th convention, the Society of Veterans of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) in the U.S.A. voted on a major change in its charter: to allow the direct descendants of UPA veterans to join the ranks of the organization and continue their work and pursue their goals.

The convention was held in Jenkintown, Pa., at the Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center.

The newly elected board members are: Zenia Kowalczyn Brozyna, president; Bohdan Kowalyk, honorary president; Mykola Hryckowian, vice-president; Lillianna Szkafarowsky Chudolij, secretary; Olia Szkafarowsky Rudyk, press secretary; Steven Kowalyk and Lesia Kiciuk Shchur, financial secretaries; and Jaroslaw Kiciuk, Jr., organizational and monument preservation director.

The Audit Committee includes Stephanie Hryckowian, Taras Kucman and Eugene Serba, while the Judicial Committee includes Christine Romaniw, Halyna Klymuk Chomiak and Tanya Wakula Siletsky.

Additional members include: Sonia Kiciuk Smith, Roman Golash, Markian Romaniw, Andrew Ripecky, Kasia Laszyn and Olia Stanko Kuzewycz, as well as UPA veterans Iwan Kushnir, Iwan Wasiczko, Yaroslaw Kiciuk, Petro Dmytruk, Myron Mycio, Evfrozyna Martynetz, Pawlo Batkiv, Yulia Kopchynska, Petro Serba, Roman Andrushkiw, Bohdan Rosheczkyj and Myron Lusczak.
