The 27th Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence – Hartford, Conn.

The Greater Hartford Ukrainian American community gathered at the Ukrainian National Home on Sunday, August 26, to celebrate the 27th anniversary of Ukrainian independence. 

The community welcomed Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), who has worked closely with the Ukrainian American Veterans on veterans’ affairs, and Michael Sawkiw, director of the Ukrainian National Information Service, the Washington bureau of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, and the UCCA’s executive vice-president.

The program consisted of remarks by Sen. Blumenthal and Mr. Sawkiw, presentations of poems and songs by students from the local Ukrainian school, and renditions of patriotic songs performed by Choir Lanka Halychanka.
