On June 14-18, 1998, the UNA Seniors Association held its 24th conference at Soyuzivka, attracting participants from various parts of the U.S. Above, conference attendees are gathered for the customary conference photo; UNA Seniors President Anne Chopek, who was re-elected at the annual conference, is seated sixth from left. Also re-elected at the 1998 conference were: Alice Orlan and Sam Liteplo, vice-presidents; Olga Liteplo, English-language secretary; Dr. Jurij Swyschuk, Ukrainian-language secretary; and Olga Paproski, treasurer. Honorary Past Presidents Stephen Kuropas and Eugene Woloshyn continued to be members of the executive board. Dr. Chopek was elected English publicity chairman, and Dr. Roman Baranowskyj as Ukrainian publicity chairman. The highlight of the week, according to a news story written by Dr. Chopek, was a trip to the new UNA Home Office in Parsippany, N.J. The seniors were cordially welcomed by President Ulana Diachuk, as well as by National Secretary Martha Lysko and Treasurer Stefan Kaczaraj. All had an opportunity to meet with Roma Hadzewycz, editor-in-chief of The Ukrainian Weekly, and her staff, with the staff of Svoboda and various employees of the UNA. All were impressed with the new building and with the dedication of all who work there. Arrangements for the bus trip were made by Anna Slobodian and UNA Advisor Stefania Hawryluk.

A photo archive of UNA history has been launched on the UNA website. It is a work in progress that will be expanded and refined. To take a look, go to unainc.org/una/the-una-is-125-years-old/.
