WHIPPANY, N.J. – On November 15, the Ukrainian National Association hosted a presentation by Dr. Petrusia G. Kotlar titled “Wellness and Nutrition as a Means to Healthy Longevity” here at the Ukrainian American Cultural Center of New Jersey (UACCNJ).

Dr. Kotlar is a well-known chiropractor and alternative health care provider in practice for over 31 years. Her holistic wellness practice in Manhattan encompasses spinal health, nutrition, exercise and apitherapy. As part of her continuing education studies, Dr. Kotlar has completed coursework on nutritional protocols for daily living, principles of digestion, and fundamentals of herbal therapy in endocrinology and cardiac health, among others. Dr. Kotlar is a long time UNA member and an active member of the local Ukrainian community in New Jersey.

Over 60 members of the Ukrainian community in Whippany and surrounding areas attended the presentation to learn about nutritional trends and alternatives to chemical medicine. Dr. Kotlar also presented all the benefits of traditional Ukrainian dishes and styles of cooking during her presentation on “ethno-nutrition,” as well as educated the attendees about “seasonal eating.”

Along with volunteers from the Spartanky sorority of Plast Ukrainian Scouting Organization, Dr. Kotlar prepared healthy snacks, which included bone broth, kale chips, herbal tea, wild mushroom soup, and other offerings.

The Ukrainian National Association sponsored a drawing for two prizes: a gift basket containing healthy food products, such as herbal teas and raw-unfiltered honey and a $50 gift card to Valley Fall Farm owned and operated by Roman Osadca and his wife.

Mr. Osadca was kind enough to attend the event with a display of Valley Fall Farm all-natural unfiltered honey products, as well as his locally grown organic garlic.

Dr. Kotlar’s presentation was the first of a series of fraternal events to be hosted and funded by the UNA in an effort to educate local communities and promote UNA insurance and annuity products.
